Best dog enrichment toys — our 6 favourites

Not every enrichment toy earns a permanent place in our home. but these six have. Tried, tested and genuinely reached for again and again. Here's what we keep coming back to and why.

Why enrichment matters every day

There's no shortage of dog enrichment products out there. but most of them end up forgotten in a drawer after a week. The six pieces below have stayed. They're the ones Lana actively gets excited about, the ones I reach for instinctively on a rainy afternoon or before a vet trip, and the ones I'd genuinely recommend to any dog owner starting to explore enrichment.

A dog who has regular mental stimulation is a calmer, more settled dog. Their instincts. sniffing, foraging, problem-solving, chewing. need somewhere to go. Enrichment gives them a healthy, satisfying channel, and the best enrichment tools make that feel effortless for both of you.

Common questions

Good to know

What are the best enrichment toys for dogs?

Snuffle mats (nose work and foraging), lick mats (calming and slow feeding), treat puzzle feeders (problem-solving) and wobbly lick bowls (extended engagement) are all excellent. The six picks above cover all these bases. Rotating between types keeps your dog fully stimulated.

How do I choose the right enrichment toy for my dog?

Follow your dog's instincts. sniffers love snuffle mats, food-motivated dogs thrive with puzzles, anxious dogs calm down fastest with lick mats. Start with one or two and watch what your pup gravitates toward. You can always expand the collection from there.

How often should I use enrichment toys?

Daily, ideally. Even 5–10 minutes a day makes a significant difference to a dog's calm and behaviour. We rotate our six picks across the week so Lana never gets bored of any one thing.

♡ A note on quality over quantity

You don't need all six at once. start with one or two and see what your dog gravitates toward. Some dogs are puzzle lovers; others are lickers; others just want something to carry around. Follow your dog's lead and build from there.
