Little things that make life with dogs easier

Practical finds for walks, playtime and home. the kind of small additions that make the everyday rhythm of life with a dog feel a little smoother, a little softer and a lot more organised.

Why the small things matter most

Life with a dog is full of small routines that quietly shape the quality of the day. for us and for them. Over time I've found that it's often the simplest things that make the biggest difference. Not complicated products or expensive gear, but small, thoughtful finds that make the everyday feel a little smoother and a little more like it was designed for both of you.

A water bottle that means walks never get cut short. A snuffle mat that turns a rainy afternoon into enrichment time. A lick mat that transforms a few minutes into something deeply calming. A basket that gives your dog their own corner. A leash worth picking up every single day. None of these are complicated. but once they're part of the routine, you wonder how you managed without them.

One thing I've learned from Lana is that dogs don't need complicated things to be happy. A favourite toy, a cozy blanket, time outdoors and being close to the people they love often matter far more than we realise. These five finds simply support that. making space for more of the good moments, with a little less friction in between.

Common questions

Good to know

What should I always bring on a walk with my dog?

Water is the most important. especially on warm days or longer walks. A portable dog water bottle makes it easy to keep your dog hydrated without carrying a separate bowl. Beyond water, a waste bag holder, a treat pouch and a well-fitting harness or leash cover the essentials for a comfortable, prepared walk.

What is a snuffle mat and why do dogs love it?

A snuffle mat is a textured foraging mat with layers of fabric that you hide kibble or treats within. Dogs have to use their nose to sniff out the food, which engages their natural foraging instincts. The mental effort of sniffing is deeply tiring for dogs. a 10-minute snuffle session can be as calming and satisfying as a long walk.

Are slow feeders good for dogs?

Yes. slow feeders turn eating into an engaging activity, reduce the risk of bloating from fast eating, support better digestion, and make mealtime something dogs genuinely enjoy. Most dogs adapt to them quickly and settle more calmly after meals as a result.

How do I keep dog toys organised at home?

A rope or wicker basket is a simple, attractive solution. Dogs can easily access their toys, you can grab what you need quickly, and it doubles as home decor. Keeping toys in one spot also helps dogs develop a sense of 'their things' and their own space in the home. many dogs will visit their basket independently to choose what to play with.

From Life With Lana ♡

You don't need all five at once. Start with the one that feels most useful right now and add the others over time. The goal isn't a perfect setup. it's just a life with your dog that feels a little more joyful, a little more organised, and a little more like it was made for both of you.
